This album is simply a collection of solos I like, by people I like. These are a few of my favorite pieces that have been written or adapted for me in recent years by six wonderful composers and one that I wrote for Adrianne Munden-Dixon and adapted for myself. It’s almost a cliche to talk about expanding the viola repertoire, but I really do feel that we are always finding new ways to write for viola, and violists need more music just for us! I like that while these pieces occasionally nod to the classic sad, slow viola thing, they are also spacey, peppy, aggressive, profound, groovy, ecstatic, and transcendent.
